from the new draft of Phase:
“Sophie…you okay?”
I nodded out of habit rather than conviction. “Right as rain.”
Ezra grinned at my very archaic saying. “I really never know what’s going to come out of your mouth.”
I smiled, even as I felt my face warm with embarrassment. “I didn’t know you even thought about my mouth,” I retorted back then heard my voice squeak when my own words registered in my head.
Cue the much redder blush.
He wasn’t smiling. I wasn’t smiling. We just stared at each other as I heard my stupid words repeat ad nauseam in my head.
I just really liked how this popped out. I hope it stays in the final draft.
