I mean, that’s the reason I’m basically MIA. Sorry about that.
It’s FRIDAY!! Can you believe it? I know it was a short week, but I’m so grateful it’s over. It just seemed long. No offense to the students or my colleagues. I just need a break. Last night I got really mature and bought and put together this:
Yes, that Lego Loki. I find the whole process of putting together Legos so de-stressing. It’s a shame they cost so much. 😦
In life news, life is busy. Beginning school, teaching, grading, PLANNING! Learning all the names of my 94 students (and matching them with correct faces). I’ve already had open house night, when parents come and you must woo, wow and generally seem impressive. I think I did okay. Already had a few students find my online presence (here – the blog, yes, I know you’re reading), which is always amusing because they seem so shocked that I do tumblr, twitter, facebook, youtube, blogging, etc. I suppose I assumed that my teachers went into power save mode when students were gone, only to reboot when the school day started.
I have been reading. I also eventually want to talk about reading Life of Pi by Yann Martel and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. Both were summer reading for the classes I teach, so I had to get them read and quickly. I found both books a different experience than I expected.I finished The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman several days ago. Here’s the video review if you wanna watch:
I like Macon, GA. It’s hot. (They even say this isn’t that hot for here. GREAT.) I’ve met a lot of nice people, some potential friends (I don’t want to jinx it by saying ‘we’re friends’ just yet. Can you jinx stuff like that?), drank a lot of sweetened ice tea, and got sick. I’m not sure if it’s allergies or a nasty cold, but it’s something and it’s sticking around (a week so far) and it’s annoying. Like, sick? The first two weeks of school? ARE YOU SERIOUS??? But other than that, Margie and I seem to be settling in well.
I also did a #FridayReads video for your watching enjoyment.
I’m a little spastic today, I admit it. Sorry. I overdid the coffee with caramel Bailey’s (nonalcoholic, I saw where your brain went) creamer. And with that, I’m off to write.
