I bought and read my own book on my Kindle Fire. Yeah, seems silly when I have about fifty versions of the novel on my computer, but to buy it was pretty dang cool.
Oh, I really should clean the screen.
But it’s mine. And there are others who are reading it. People who know who Sophie, Ezra, Jules and Gil are. I can’t tell you how much I’ve wanted to post about them on here. These characters have been in my brain for years and once a book is published, it’s like they come to life. Sophie isn’t just mine anymore. She’s any reader’s. And I love them. I get to the Sophie and Ezra scenes and even though I’ve written and rewritten their inactions a dozen times, I still hold my breath when they’re on the swings.
I feel for Naomi even when she’s at her worst. I get Jules’ standoffishness with guys. To be able to share these people with others is probably the most exciting thing I’ve ever gotten to do. I apologize if that minimizes any of the other events that have occurred in my life. 🙂
I’m in this state of disbelief and pure joy right now. Even with about a dozen things I need to do, it’s hard to focus on anything but ‘Holy Hera, I have a published book!’
